BABY WILKINS
Hyrum Patrick Wilkins
Born Feb.23rd @5:58am
7lb. 4 oz.
1st Hospital Picture... Wait until you see under the cap! Strawberry Blonde Hair, and LOTS of it!

Chillin' for the 1st time in his swing.
His 1st Bath at home. He loved it! I was nervous cuz his daddy hates water, but Hyrum only cried when we took him out of the bath. He was so cute!

Just gettin' started in the tub

Aunt Jilly is great at burpin'. I love this shot of him! I can't stop staring at him... One second.... Oh, I was staring again :)

Hospital story: So I had my 1st contraction at 1230am Monday morning. I had eaten lots of pasta and thought I was just having cramps... I had another one 20 minutes later and then another 15 minutes later. I woke Danny up and told him I thought it was time. I had him go back to bed in case it wasn't anything. 10 minutes later I waking him again as a strong one hit and I had no doubt anymore. I called my sister Sariah (coach) and then my midwife. In those short conversations I had 3 contractions! We left the house, picked up Sariah and took off to the hospital. The contractions were 2 1/2 minutes apart by this time and I was already wanting to push. We got checked into the hospital and checked out. I was at a 6 and 100% effaced. I was doing this naturally and though they were SUPER intense and painful I was able to breathe through them. The hardest part was trying to stay focused when everyone was asking me questions and transferring me from one bed to another. I finally got from ER, Triag, then the Labor room. Danny and my sister did a great job but by this time I was asking for the epidural. It was so painful. It was only 3 hours into it and the nurse was saying I had hours ahead of me, I was on an IV for the Strep B and was emotional! I hated all the tests and the monitor on my killin' stomach! Right when I was giving in to the drugs my midwife showed up like an angel! She ordered the lights out, told me to get out of the bed (hallelujia) and then I labored with her for an hour. She was confident and authorative, and yet super supportive and I just felt better with her there. I mostly stood leaning against a table, and then actually sat on the toilet seat for the rest. It was the most comfortable for me. She had me come back to the bed after an hour, 5 minutes and 3 pushes later Hyrum was born! It was a miracle! FUEGO!!! PAINFUL!!!! And yet worth every pain! I got 3 degree tears inside, OUCH! He just came so fast I was not able to stretch enough. But he is so beautiful! I nursed him right away and the rest is a blur :) It was great though feeling so alert, and able to walk so shortly afterwards. I am home now, we are doing great. He is so sweet, I can't get enough of him! Thanks for all the calls and prayers!
Oh yea, and dad is doing great!

More bath time with a friend...

SO CUTE!!!!

OK.. enough mom! no more pics!
alright fine!... one more :)

I am a big brother

It's so hard to be me.....

I love my new little brother. He is like a fun toy that can't do anything but lay there and allow me to do whatever I want. I ignored him for a while. I even ignored mommy for a while as I was a little hurt by her being gone so much at the hospital. But eventually I had to investigate this new little boy in my house and I think he is pretty funny. I like to laugh at him when he is nursing. I think it's funny. I like to watch him eat to see what he is doing.

I am pretty nice to him though I have pulled him off the couch twice! Once when he was in his bouncy seat and mom was in the bathroom, and another time when he was on the couch in his bassinet that mom thought was super safe from me. She went to close the shower curtain and I was super quick grabbing hold of him and hauling him over the edge of the bassinet. I am pretty talented, and strong!

I am not so jealous anymore. Mom is spending more and more time with me. She lets me sit on her lap when she is feeding Clynn, and we play in my room together, and we go swimming at the pool a lot. As long as she gives me lots of snacks and drinks I don't get too sad about sharing her. I think I am going to like Clynn a lot. I just need to get a little more used to him.

My First Year

My first year has been so much FUN! Here are some of my accomplishments and favorite moments!

I was BORN Feb. 23rd, 2009 7lbs. 40z. My mom had me naturally using a midwife named Janice. My Aunt Sariah was my coach, my Daddy helped my mom to be more comfortable, my Grandma and my Great Grandma were there for moral support! I was born with RED hair, SURPRISE!!!

I was given a name and blessed at church on March 29th, 2009. It was a wonderful blessing from my Dadddy. He blessed me that I would remember my ancestors and the family that surrounds me. That I would learn from them and feel their love. He told me to remember the men that are my namesakes, that they were great men, as I will be. He also blessed me to stay close to the Holy Ghost, that he would lead and guide me, and I would always to right if I followed his promptings. My grandpas, uncles, and some family friends were in the circle.

We have lots of family and friends surrounding us. Momma's friends and sisters are all having babies right now. I fell asleep in the swing with Abigail Steffan. I liked it!

I went camping a lot this year. We went camping with Aunt Erin and the Steffans, we camped with the Sierra Ranch ward, and we went camping with all the VanNatters. I love to be outside, and love rivers, quad rides, and licorice (thanks to my Aunts!)

I LOVE BATHS AND I LOVE TO SWIM!!!!!! I spent most of the summer and swim season with my mom while she coached, and I spent lots of time with the family, and then of course evenings in the bathtub! SPLISH SPLASH!!!

At 3 months old I would turn to look when momma pointed at something neat. I laughed out loud when I got my feet tickled, I like to roll over in my crib and around the room :) And sat up on my own! Sometimes I talk to myself, Daddy gets worried when I do that, especially when I talk to the wall. I had my 1st fever at 4 months old when I got shots! And I went to my first Diamondbacks baseball game and CONCERT! I fell asleep during the concert!

At 4-6 months old I liked to hide my face, play peekaboo and laugh out loud. I love FOOD!!! I eat rice cereal already, and love jar food. My favorites are carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. I also got my first haircut. I am even holding my own bottle now and I love to drink out of momma's glass. Rambo plays with me on the floor, and I crawl!!! I say momma all the time! I learned how to say dadda, and I love to mimmic people. I click my tongue and try to make all the noises they make with their mouths. At 7 months old I was walking around everything I could grab hold of. I held my own cup and I even stood up all on my own! I loved to clap my hands and LOVED Attention! I tried taking my 1st steps but stopped for a while after I was sick with a fever for a few days. By 11 months old I was waving goodbye, and saying doggie! I went hiking with all my cousins for our cousin birthday party that mom and dad put on every year. I also went to my very 1st Football game. The Insight bowl during New Year's eve week.

Now I am 13 months old. I had the funnest Birthday party, almost all of my friends and family were there! Mom made me a cake shaped like a huge tractor out of rice crispies, and we had a shark pinata! I got cake all over me, but the icing in my mouth of course... yummm! I am walking everywhere now and love to wear my cool sunglasses. I can't wait for pool time this summer! It's going to be so much fun. My plan is to swim all by myself by the end of summer.
But for now I will just keep playing in the wash basin and mud out in the ol' backyard.
